Broomfield’s Grace Fossell Honored with 2026 Colorado Governor’s Summer Job Hunt Youth Award

The City and County of Broomfield (CCOB) is proud to announce that Motor Vehicle Specialist Grace Fossell has been selected as a recipient of the 2026 Colorado Governor’s Summer Job Hunt Youth Award.

Grace was formally recognized by the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment’s (CDLE) Employment and Training Division on Tuesday, Sept. 1, during an awards ceremony held at the Governor’s Residence at the Boettcher Mansion in Denver. The statewide youth award honors outstanding young employees across Colorado who demonstrate exceptional workplace performance, initiative, personal growth and commitment.

Grace was nominated by Marci Machuga, Youth Workforce Specialist III at the Broomfield Workforce Center, who first began working with Grace when she was a 17-year-old high school senior and young mother balancing childcare, school and work. Over four years of partnership with Broomfield Workforce, Grace completed career exploration programs, earned professional credentials and secured an On-the-Job Training internship with CCOB’s Clerk and Recorder’s Office at the start of 2026.

Building on the experience and certifications gained during her internship, Grace applied for, interviewed and was hired into a full-time, permanent position with CCOB’s Motor Vehicle Division in April.

"Her story represents exactly why youth workforce programs matter so much," said Marci Machuga, Broomfield Workforce Center Youth Workforce Specialist III. "Grace didn't simply receive assistance finding a job; she received an opportunity to discover her strengths, build confidence, overcome barriers and thrive in a sustainable career. Her journey from a quiet 17-year-old mother to a confident City and County of Broomfield employee is truly inspiring."

Since joining the Motor Vehicle Division, Grace has continued to stand out for her dedication to serving Broomfield residents and supporting her team. CCOB congratulates Grace on this well-deserved statewide achievement.
