NEW YORK, NY, UNITED STATES, August 6, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- As Fibroid Awareness Month comes to a close, USA Fibroid Centers is encouraging women to continue prioritizing their reproductive health by recognizing the symptoms of uterine fibroids and seeking treatment before the condition begins to affect major life decisions.

Throughout July, USA Fibroid Centers expanded awareness through its nationwide "Did You Know?" educational campaign and offered complimentary fibroid screenings to educate women about a condition that affects up to 80 percent of women by age 50 yet often goes undiagnosed or untreated for years.

Despite growing awareness, many women continue to delay seeking medical care until fibroids have significantly affected their health, careers, relationships, or plans to have children.

"Every Fibroid Awareness Month reminds us how much work remains," said Dr. Yan Katsnelson, Founder and CEO of USA Fibroid Centers. "Women are still telling us they waited years before seeking care because they believed heavy bleeding and pelvic pain were simply part of being a woman. Our message is simple: don't wait. The earlier women seek evaluation, the more informed choices they may have."

Uterine fibroids are noncancerous growths that can cause heavy menstrual bleeding, pelvic pain, pelvic pressure, frequent urination, anemia, and fertility challenges.

Throughout the month, USA Fibroid Centers' educational campaign encouraged women to recognize that these symptoms are not something they have to simply live with and that early diagnosis can lead to more treatment options and better outcomes.

One minimally invasive treatment option is Uterine Fibroid Embolization (UFE), an outpatient procedure performed by an interventional radiologist that treats fibroids without removing the uterus. For many women, UFE offers effective symptom relief with a shorter recovery than traditional surgery, although treatment decisions should always be based on a patient's individual medical needs and goals.

"One of the biggest barriers we see is that women don't know where to begin," said Dr. Jacob White, Medical Director at USA Fibroid Centers. "Many believe surgery is their only option or delay seeking care until their symptoms become severe. Women deserve to understand all appropriate treatment options before making life-changing decisions. An early evaluation can help them better understand their condition and, depending on their individual circumstances, preserve more treatment options."

Although the complimentary Fibroid Awareness Month screenings have ended, USA Fibroid Centers encourages women experiencing persistent fibroid symptoms to schedule an evaluation rather than waiting for symptoms to worsen. Whether a woman begins with her gynecologist or consults an interventional radiologist, understanding all appropriate treatment options is an important first step toward making an informed decision. USA Fibroid Centers remains committed to increasing awareness, expanding access to care, and ensuring that more women have the information and resources they need to seek treatment sooner rather than later.
